Building Capacity for the Next Phase of Tertiary Care
During Dr. Sudhir Bhandari’s tenure as Principal & Controller, SMS Medical College & its attached hospitals advanced a series of infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening specialised care, inpatient capacity and academic facilities. The development portfolio included neurological services, new hospital blocks and proposals for dedicated institutes, student accommodation and library infrastructure.

A ₹100 crore Institute of Neuro Sciences project formed part of the expansion programme, with development and upgradation of neurology and neurosurgery facilities identified as its core focus.

A dedicated Institute of Tropical Medicine & Virology was proposed as part of the wider institutional expansion. The architectural concepts show a purpose-built facility planned for specialised infectious and tropical-disease services.

The Zanana Hospital IPD Block was presented with a project value of ₹100 crore and planned capacity of 500 general beds plus 50 ICU beds, along with parking and modern support facilities.
